Science behind O3Technology Systems
O3 Technology systems condition irrigation water to optimize plant growth by improving oxygen levels, nutrient availability, and water quality.
High Dissolved Oxygen
Ozonated water contains high dissolved oxygen (DO) levels. High DO is one of the most important indicators of irrigation water quality. Healthy roots require oxygen to grow rapidly.
O3 Tech systems deliver super-saturated oxygen water directly to the root zone, promoting vigorous root development and faster plant growth.
Pathogen Control
Pathogens such as bacteria, mold, and fungi are among the most destructive threats to plant health. Ozone water oxidizes and destroys these harmful pathogens into compounds that plants can absorb as nutrients.
Nutrient Conversion
- Ozone oxidizes organic material and certain contaminants in water into plant-available nutrients.
- Nitrogen must be oxidized into nitrates and nitrites before plants can use it efficiently.
- When ozone performs this oxidation, plants conserve energy that would otherwise be used for nutrient conversion.
- That saved energy is redirected toward growth and crop production.
Mineral Chelation
- Ozone breaks mineral compounds into sub-micron particles, making them easier for plants to absorb.
- Plants normally perform this process themselves, but it consumes energy.
- When minerals are pre-chelated in irrigation water, plants can redirect that energy toward growth.
Optimized Water pH
- Ozone oxidizes many organics and contaminants in irrigation water, helping stabilize the pH.
- Ideal irrigation water pH is typically 7.2 – 7.6.
- Balanced water improves nutrient availability and water absorption by plants.
Improved Water Penetration
- Ozone increases oxygen solubility in water.
- O3 is approximately 13 times more soluble than oxygen (O₂).
- Water with higher oxygen levels penetrates soil more efficiently, helping irrigation water reach plant roots faster and more effectively.
Biofilm Removal
Biofilm commonly develops inside irrigation pipes and can harbor bacteria, reduce oxygen levels, and restrict water flow.
Ozone destroys biofilm, allowing irrigation systems to deliver clean, oxygen-rich water to crops.
Natural Pest Reduction
Ozone can damage insect eggs and larvae.
Adult insects often avoid environments with ozone, making it a useful natural pest management tool.
Proprietary Ozone Injection Technology
O3 Technology systems inject 5-micron ozone bubbles directly into irrigation lines.
The small bubble size maximizes ozone contact with water, greatly improving efficiency and reducing system cost.
